Bennington used-boat buyer's guide

What Bennington is on the used market

Bennington is the premium-volume pontoon brand — the largest player in the segment's upper-middle tier, with 11,000 hulls in our sample. The used pontoon market overall has been reshaped by the 2020–2022 demand spike: a wave of lightly used, high-spec boats from that era is now hitting resale, which puts genuine pressure on 2015–2019 prices. That's leverage for buyers across the board.

Trim matters enormously with Bennington: the same length boat spans entry S-series to luxury Q-series with a 2–3x price spread. Comp against the correct series, not just length and year.

Known issues to inspect

Pontoons hide their problems under the deck: inspect the tubes for dents, weld repairs, and corrosion at the seams, and check the under-deck cross-members and risers. On tritoons with larger engines, verify the center tube and transom bracket show no stress cracking — repowered boats pushed beyond original spec are increasingly common.

Furniture and flooring are the visible money items: vinyl seat bases rot from below, and replacement furniture runs $3K–8K. Check the Bimini frame, verify the trailer (often aftermarket on pontoons), and confirm engine hours with dealer diagnostics — pontoon engine hours are commonly understated in listings.

Resale and value character

Bennington holds value at the top of the pontoon market and carries genuine brand preference among second-time pontoon buyers. The series structure protects value at the Q/R end far better than at the entry end, where competition from Tracker-priced brands caps resale. Buy the best-documented boat in your size class — pontoon buyers at resale pay for condition, not stories.
