Are Fisher boats reliable?

Fisher boats are straightforward aluminum construction with few complex systems to fail. Most ownership costs come from outboard maintenance, trailer upkeep, and age related wear on floors and wiring in boats now 20 to 30 years old. The brand has 6 USCG recalls on record across 1642 hulls, a moderate rate for a builder of this size and era.

Common problems to inspect on a used Fisher

  • Transom condition and stress cracks from outboard weight
  • Aluminum hull rivets and corrosion at the waterline
  • Plywood floor rot and soft spots from water intrusion
  • Wiring degradation and electrical connection corrosion

Frequently asked questions

Are Fisher boats good quality?

Fisher boats are basic aluminum construction focused on affordability over refinement. They are adequate for light duty freshwater fishing but lack the fit and finish of premium brands.

What size are Fisher boats?

The median Fisher boat is 17.3 feet, with most models in the 14 to 20 foot range. These are small boats designed for lakes, rivers, and protected waters.

Do Fisher boats hold their value?

Fisher boats depreciate quickly as budget aluminum boats with limited demand. Expect resale values well below mid tier brands, though low initial cost can offset depreciation for practical buyers.

Are Fisher boats still in production?

Most registered Fisher boats are from the late 1990s to mid 2000s, suggesting production has slowed or ceased. Buyers should focus on used inventory and parts availability for older hulls.
