What Sea-Doo is on the used market

Sea-Doo (BRP/Bombardier) is the single most-registered brand in our US registry sample — nearly 69,000 hulls — spanning personal watercraft and the jet boat lines (Speedster, Challenger, and the modern Switch pontoons). The used PWC market is fast-moving and seasonal: prices peak in late spring and soften hard after August, which is the cheapest window to buy.

Hours matter more than years. A PWC is a high-RPM machine; 150 hours on a recreational ski is meaningful use, and 300+ on a supercharged model means the expensive service items are due or overdue.

Known issues to inspect

On supercharged models (RXP, RXT, GTX Limited, 230–300 hp), supercharger rebuilds are the defining cost item — historically due around every 100 hours on pre-2017 models (ceramic washer era), roughly $400–800 done independently. No rebuild receipt on a supercharged ski means you price one in.

Beyond that: verify the hull hasn't sucked debris (inspect wear ring and impeller), check for salt use without flushing (corroded ride plate and pump bolts tell the story), confirm the iBR brake actuator works on 2009+ models, and pull a BUDS/Candoo diagnostic report if possible — it shows true hours and fault history the cluster can hide.

Resale and value character

Depreciation is steep for the first three seasons, then flattens — the value play is a 3–5 year old naturally aspirated GTI/GTX with under 100 documented hours. Supercharged flagships depreciate fastest and carry the highest running costs; buy them only with full service history and a healthy discount to comps.
