Four Winns occupies the broad middle of the used runabout market — a step above the entry brands in build and finish, a step below Cobalt and Chaparral in price. The brand has passed through several owners (OMC, Genmar, Rec Boat Holdings, now Groupe Beneteau), and build character varies somewhat by era; the Horizon bowriders and Vista cruisers from the 2000s–2010s are the volume on the used market.

Known issues to inspect

OMC-era boats (pre-2001) may carry orphaned OMC sterndrives — parts exist but mechanics increasingly decline the work; treat an OMC drive as a near-term repower decision and price accordingly. Later Volvo Penta and Mercruiser drives follow the standard sterndrive checklist: bellows, gimbal bearing, manifold/riser age in salt.

Check deck hardware bedding and windshield frame corrosion on 2000s boats, moisture in the cockpit sole, and on Vista cruisers the canvas and AC/generator systems — small-cruiser systems age faster than engines and replacement quotes surprise first-time cruiser buyers.

Resale and value character

Four Winns resells on price and condition without brand premium or penalty — a true mid-market boat. That neutrality is useful: comps are plentiful, the market is efficient, and a documented example at the comp midpoint is a fair deal with no hidden brand tax in either direction.
